Welcome to the Archdiocese of Santa Fe (AofSF) Training awareness page.  Here you will find links to Catholic specific Youth Protection Training; the National Federation of Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM); National Catholic Committee on Scouting (NCCS-BSA) for training opportunities/recognition for Catholic Scouting.  For questions use the contact us page to get in contact with your local CCoS.

Youth Protection Training
All adults who work with youth in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe must be current with and hold a training certificate for the course “Protecting God’s Children Online Awareness”.  Adults must also be current in their respective organization’s youth protection training.

Girl Scouts of the USA Youth Protection Training
Adults must be registered in Girl Scouts of the USA, have a current approved background check with Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails and have completed the GSUSA Girl Scouts Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Course.  Email customercare@nmgirlscouts.org to get access to the training.

Adults will also need the above mentioned “Protecting God’s Children Online Awareness”.

Scouting America Youth Protection Training
Adults must be registered in Scouting America (for background check purposes) and current (with a valid training certificate) on Scouting America’s Youth Protection Training (YPT).  Training can be found at:   https://www.scouting.org/training/youth-protection/

Adults will also need the above mentioned “Protecting God’s Children Online Awareness”. 

National Federation of Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM)
Youth ministry leader training provided in a six-session online training program for anyone new to youth ministry sponsored by the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM).  This provides an overview of delivering youth programs to Catholic Youth and is highly recommended for adult leaders.  See this website for additional details:   https://nfcym.org/first-things/

National Catholic Committee on Scouting Training Information

Religious Emblem Counselor Training
We are always looking for new religious emblem counselors.  We hold Religious Emblems Counselor training in conjunction with our annual retreat in September.  Contact us for more details on location and time.

Training Recognition
Two Scouting America courses have the opportunity for the Adult Leader to earn recognition items

  1.  St. Brendan the Navigator Award.  Upon completion of Scouting in the Local Catholic Church (SILC) course; the trainee returns to their diocese/archdiocese and completes a mission project benefitting the local Catholic youth/community.  For more details see:  https://nccs-bsa.org/download/brendan-the-navigator/
  2. Jerusalem Cross Award.  Upon completion of the Scouting in the Catholic Church (SiCC) and an associated mission/service project benefitting your local Parish/Diocese/Archdiocese the trainee can earn this award.  For more details see:  https://nccs-bsa.org/download/jerusalem-cross/
